From the 1930’s up to the year 2000, it was very typical for bitumen to be commonly used for most floor coverings. This was due to the fact is was inexpensive and readily available to use so therefore very popular as a material used for flooring and in construction overall. It’s downside however is that it contains asbestos and therefore this is where there is a need to rid the presence now of bitumen in properties.
